I live tweeted every session I attended and this post serves as a summary of those resources presented during the presentations.  You can see the entire Twitter summary curated by Symplur here, and my summary of the 2015 forum here. Living with Obamacare – Post 2016

Five days after Donald Trump became President-Elect a policy journalist tweeted this: I saw it and realized that, as someone with a decent understanding of healthcare policy, I was likely one of very few individuals to be living with the direct consequences of “Repeal and Replace” who could also understand the system level politics at play. This post serves as a recounting of sorts.  Regardless of … Continue reading Living with Obamacare – Post 2016

The paradox of potentially predatory publications

An article on a statewide MIH program in Florida is making the rounds within EMS trade journals.  EMS World and JEMS have both already covered it.  I was asked by EMS1‘s Editor-in-Chief to cover it, but given a variety of misgivings that I had about the integrity of the article it was decided to let sleeping dogs lie. But that’s why I started my own website. Article … Continue reading The paradox of potentially predatory publications

Who knew two weeks of nothing could remind you what matters. As a doctoral student I’m in the unique position of having multiple sources of … Continue reading Two weeks of nothing

How my USAR team used Facebook during the Louisiana Flooding

During the week in mid-August that saw seven trillion gallons of rain fall on southern Louisiana, the Louisiana Task Force 1 Urban Search and Rescue Team (LATF-1) received over half a dozen requests for aid or information via Facebook Messenger. Given that more than 20,000 people were rescued from rising flood waters over the course of that same week, half a dozen requests may seem like a drop … Continue reading How my USAR team used Facebook during the Louisiana Flooding
